How Andrew Rosen and Elie Tahari Started Theory

The fashion industry forms an important part of our daily lives. Thousands of fashion enthusiasts spend a fortune on the latest fashion trends, accessories, shoes and other items every season in order to ensure their wardrobes are filled with fashion items that will impress friends, colleagues and even people on the street. For many people, following fashion trends and dressing in styles that are seen as "in fashion" at the moment is essential - not only will this help them impress others, but it often also forms part of their career, such as with fashion bloggers, influencers of the fashion industry and celebrities. This is why Theory( Theory women's clothing at IFCHIC ) is such an important part of people's life - the brand offers a large variety of contemporary fashion items that helps the modern man and women dress in style, without breaking their bank.

This contemporary clothing and accessory line was first launched in 1997. The brand was developed by Andrew Rosen and Elie Tahari. Before opening the Theory brand, Andrew work as an executive at Calvin Klein and was also the CEO of Anne Klein for a period of time. Elie was also part of the fashion industry from a young age. He specialized in designing luxury fashion items that were part of a "ready-to-wear" collection of clothing. In 1977, Elie Tahari showcased his very first designs, which includes a range of blouses and dance dresses, at the Studio 54 nightclub in New York City.

During the early stages of Theory, the entire brand centered around a small women's collection that only included a range of stretch pants. These stretch pants were designed to be comfortable, but also part of the time's current fashion trends. The two co-owners had a huge success with the first clothing line announced by their brand, which led them to add a men's fashion line in the year 1999. This new development expanded the brand from being a women's only brand, to a unisex brand that caters towards both men and women.

One year later, in 2000, Theory signed a deal with a company in Japan, Link International. This deal was signed because the two co-owners, Andrew Rosen and Elie Tahari, wanted to expand their brand even further after it had such a successful launch in the United States. After signing a deal with Link International, their branded fashion items were distributed throughout China under the Theory label. They mainly focused on distributing their fashion lines in Japan at the time. Eager to become more successful, the team added a collection of handbags and shoes specifically designed for women in 2003. Even though this range was announced in 2003, they only officially launched it within the United States in 2006. From here on, the Theory brand kept growing larger and more successful by the day. The brand has since further expanded into the United States, as well as into additional countries such as France. Today, the brand has more than 489 stores in international locations and they still continue to grow more successful by the day.
